Bobby’s Burger Palace - Pentagram’s Newest Project

July 29th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Pentragram recently completed the identity for a new high-end burger chain called Bobby’s Burger Palace. The store is opening on Long Island in the Smith Haven Mall, lead by celebrity chef Bobby Flay. As usual they don’t fail to disappoint with their clean, typography and cleaver use of color. The chain is opening sometime this summer.

The Dark Knight is Epic

July 28th, 2008 · No Comments

Ok so I know it is kind of old news at this point, but in the wake of one of the best movies I have ever seen I thought I would talk a little bit about some of the aspects that made this movie so mesmerizing.
1. Hardly an CGI: mainstream movies, and especially superhero movies […]

Steampunk - The Innovative Design Movement

July 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

Have you ever seen Wild Wild West? Ever horribly disappointed by it’s lack of a cohesive plot and painfully dated soundtrack? I know I was. One thing in that movie that slightly redeems itself, is it’s set production and design. Another one, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. These movies were designed on top of a […]

July 20th, 2008 · No Comments

Cr8tive Recreation just released their new fall line, and they have not failed to disappoint. New styles, and innovations on old styles these LA hipsters truly know how to make shoes. Not to say that their latest spring and summer lines weren’t great, but their new fall line utilizes the more subdued fall palette; browns, […]

Abelardo Morell - Beautiful Camera Obscura

July 1st, 2008 · No Comments

I recently discovered Abelardo Morell, a phenomenal photographer, and currently a professor at Boston’s own Mass Art. While all of his photos are beautiful I was particularly amazed by his Camera Obscura work. The way he blends landscapes into local settings, cities into hotel rooms and oceans into bedrooms is really unbelievable. Some of his […]

FontStruct by FontShop

June 10th, 2008 · No Comments

So apparently my laziness caused us to miss the first post on this, but our good friend Kyle Kabel wrote a post a while ago about Fontshop’s new application Fontstruct, and even though slate magazine beat us to the punch, the article is still interesting and relevant, so here it is.

It’s Been A While, But We’re Back

June 6th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Alright everyone, so it’s been a ridiculously long time since we last posted. There are a few reasons for that, involving California, but none of which are that interesting so we are going to skip over the details. Anyway, I just found out about this great new exhibit at the ICA in Boston featuring various […]

Pie

May 5th, 2008 · 1 Comment

An interesting data visualization by Canadian design student, Alan Woo. Using Processing, Woo has taken visualized “an incredibly simple and concise baseline comparison of films through one particular trait: color.” The posters are quite stunning and its really interesting to see how series that maintain the same director and cinematographer (like the Godfather series) have […]
