So, in response to the recent that the iphone is opening up to 3rd party developers using the new Apple SDK, we thought we would highlight our top ten ideas for apps that we want to see on the iPhone. Since their are two of us here at hollergram, we thought it only made since for each of us to post our top 5. I realize, that this has been done a few times, most notably by the fellows over at Macworld… but I mean common, what is more fun than speculating on Apples future? And I mean really… a digital level?

5. RSS Reader - In Leopard the program Mail became so much more robust, with the introduction of two key features, one of which was an RSS reader, so now you didn’t have use Safari’s mediocre RSS reader, or some third party app. Somehow they missed the sync with the iPhone on this, because being able to read your RSS feeds in the iPhone mail would be a great addition.
4. Document Editor - Essential. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to receive a text document in an email, edit it and sent it back. Windows Mobile and Research in Motion have been doing this for years, maybe Apple missed the memo.
3. Task Manager - This is a feature that I can’t believe the iPhone doesn’t have. You can create events in iCal, but on your mac you can create to-do’s in iCal or Mail and sync them together. Adding this feature to the iPhone would be a great way to stay organized and avoid all of those annoying lists that turn up in the laundry. It also wouldn’t be too difficult to create lists that you can email, so that you and another iPhone user can coordinate your lists, similar to something like Gubb.
2. Taser - While everything else that they could possible create may be more ‘productive’ but wouldn’t it be great if your iPhone had a built in taser? Then you could leave your butterfly knives at home when you head downtown at night. That would also eliminate the fear of getting mugged when you pull it out on the T.
1. AIM Client - iChat would be ideal, but we all know Apple can’t create something like that would so heavily dip into their exclusive partner’s revenue stream. So, it is up to a third party developer to make this great form or wasting time possible.
