These new British coins are beautiful, they will be released over the next year. You can check them out at the Royal Mint’s website here. The new coins are really quite beautiful, they were designed by London based graphic designer Matt Dent, you can view his portfolio here. All I have to say is, what a hell of a portfolio piece. Currently there are 28 billion coins in circulation which, if lined up next to each other would be almost 400,000 miles, the distance to travel around the world 16 times. And I thought a run of 100,000 was a lot.

  1. Agreed– these really are beautiful. I saw them on another blog and actually almost e-mailed you guys, but it looks like you found them well enough on your own! They’re almost too “design-y,” if that makes any sense– they’re too COOL to be coins. Just like these German bank notes that Herbert Bayer designed, that were never actually printed:

Rarely does money look this slick and uncluttered.

  2. wow, nice looking.
