Fugazi fans, don’t lose your shit but there’s a new book being released by Glen E. Friedman who photographed the band throughout a majority of their career. The book is being released on the same day of Fugazi’s first show ever– just 20 years later. Think about it… you can read this while watching Instrument.
Here’s Ian MacKaye’s quote from the back of the book: “While most photographers were taking photos of Fugazi, Glen was making photos with us.”

This book should prove to be pretty good since it’s Glen Friedman’s. For those who aren’t up on his work, please check out Burning Flags where a lot of his stuff is online. I think the best thing about Friedman’s work is his ability to transcend genre in his subjects. For example, he’s shot The Misfits, KRS-One, Black Flag, Run DMC, Fugazi, and Public Enemy (below). I think skateboarding might have helped Friedman there since I feel like its always been (at least as long as I’ve been around) associated with both punk rock and hip hop, and Friedman is the quintessential skate photographer.
